The Women of the ELCA Southeastern Minnesota Synodical Convention was held Saturday, September 19 at Christ Lutheran Church, Preston, Minn. The synodical convention is made up of five conferences: Blue Earth River, Cannon River, Minnesota River, Root River, and Zumbro River. The Women of St. John’s belong to the Zumbro River Conference.

The conference began at 8:00 a.m. and ended at 4:00 p.m. Speakers included: Kolloh Nimley, State of Minnesota Community Program Specialist in Rochester; Lydia Davila, churchwide representative; Pastor Shelly Olson, Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, Cleveland, Minn., and current President of Lutheran Campus Ministry of Minnesota and serves on Crossroads Campus Ministry Board. The afternoon session began with special music from the Rhubarb Sisters of Lanesboro. Keynote speaker was Nathan Berkas, ELCA Global Church Sponsorship in Chicago.

Two business sessions were held during the day. Karen Skow attended as the voting delegate from St. John’s attended. The Synodical Board was elected along with Triennial Voting Members for the 2017 Triennial Convention in Minneapolis. Our own Kay Hodge was elected President of the Southeastern Minnesota Synodical Board.

In closing, Pastor Marie Anderson and Bishop Steven Delzer conducted a Communion Worship Service that also included a message from Bishop Delzer. Those attending from St. John’s were Ginny Hendrickson, LaVonne Miller, Carol Tjosaas, Kay Hodge, and Karen Skow.
