Meals to support our youth

The youth attending the 2018 ELCA National Youth Gathering will be serving two upcoming meals.

On Palm Sunday, March 25 they will serve breakfast between the morning services. The menu will be egg bake, muffins, fruit, juice, and coffee. There will also be a silent auction. Lindsay will take any donations that you would like to contribute until Friday, March 23. Come enjoy a wonderful breakfast as we prepare our hearts and souls for Holy Week.

On Friday, April 20 they will cook and serve at the American Legion Burger Night in Kasson. Join us for burgers and fries at the great price of $8 a plate. Serving will be 5:30-7:30 pm. There will also be a meat raffle. We look forward to seeing you there and doing the cooking for you!

 

2018 Chili Cookoff & Bingo Night

You’ve had a long, cold winter to work out the perfect chili concoction and now it’s time to show it off! St. John’s Youth & Family Ministry will host its fourth annual Chili Cookoff and Bingo night on Sunday, February 25 from 4:00 – 6:00 pm.

Chili Tasting: Free Will Donations
Bingo: $1 per card
Prizes for Bingo and the Best Chili

Proceeds help send youth to the ELCA National Youth Gathering

Supporting CKP this month

Do you need to wash that filthy salt spray off your car? Do breakfast burritos sound delicious? Do you want to help young children grow in their faith and love of God?

Creation Kids Preschool can use you!

Support the preschool by purchasing a Kwik Trip Carwash Card. Each card has 5 Ultimate car washes for $30. This is a $50 value (regular car wash price is $10, cost on gift card is $6 per wash!). Come hungry Sunday morning, January 21. The preschool families will be serving a breakfast 9:00 am-10:30 am. Breakfast burritos are on the menu!

Grief support this Christmas

Anyone who has lost a loved one is invited to celebrate your memories at a dinner and program on Thursday, December 14 at 11 am in the Fellowship Hall. A grief support counselor from Season’s Hospice will be our guest speaker. Bring a dish to share as you are able. Please RSVP by December 10 to the office (507-634-7110). Come to receive comfort and peace.

Join us for the Brat & Pie Social

Come out to join us for our annual Brat & Pie Social! St. John’s Adult Fellowship group will serve up a meal of hotdogs or brats, chips, and a drink for $2 (hot dogs) or $3 (brats). The WELCA ladies will be serving pie and ice cream for a freewill offering. And Don and Peggy Holtan are back with their “old time musical selections” for your entertainment. Enjoy a fun evening and bring some friends! Event is held rain or shine.

Mark Your Calendar: Annual Brat & Pie Social August 17, 5-7 pm

Join us for this annual night to get out and enjoy food, friends, and music! Brats, hotdogs, chips, & beverage for a small charge provided by Adult Fellowship. Pie & ice cream provided by WELCA for a small charge. Don & Peggy Holtan are back with their “Old Time” musical selections.

Upcoming fundraisers for the school in Haiti

As part of our ministry partnership in Haiti, the team travelling to Haiti this summer is hosting some upcoming fundraisers to help build the school:

  • Burger Night at the American Legion in Kasson – Friday, May 19, 5:30-7:00 pm. Cost is $8/person.
  • BBQ themed evening with music and dinner at St. John’s – Wednesday, May 24, 5:30-7:00 pm. Freewill donations.

Confirmation group serving on March 19

On Sunday, March 19, the Sunday Confirmation Group will be serving breakfast in the Fellowship Hall 8:30 am –10:30 am. All proceeds will benefit their trip to confirmation camp this summer.

Palm Sunday Brunch & Silent Auction

Youth will be serving breakfast and hosting a silent auction on Palm Sunday (April 9) to raise funds for camp this summer. They are seeking items that can be donated to the silent auction. If you have an item to donate, you may contact Lindsay at Lindsay@stjohnskasson.org or bring your item to the office.

Laughter & Lunch at annual Women’s Christmas Luncheon

revkev-christmasSt. John’s Annual WELCA Christmas Luncheon will be held on Saturday, December 10, 2016. Doors open at 9:00 am and the program begins at 10 am.

The featured speaker will be Kevin Doely. He is a pastor, ventriloquist, author, and musician.

According to his website, “Audiences are laughing out loud at Kevin’s lifelike vent figures and puppets. He uses a blend of comedy, storytelling, music, and audience participation…Kevin will entertain…while teaching valuable lessons.”

Music entertainment will be provided by Samantha Tripp.

If you are interested in purchasing a ticket, there are sign-up sheets on the WELCA board and in the office. Tickets are $12 each.

Take out meals available

Take out meals will be available for the Lutefisk Dinner. If you wish to call ahead and have a takeout meal delivered curbside to you in the parking lot, please call (507) 634-7110 beginning Monday, October 24. Inform the parking lot attendant if you have called ahead and are picking up a takeout meal; they will direct you to the takeout parking area.

Join the hundreds of visitors and volunteers for our annual Lutefisk Dinner! This event is a family tradition, bridging across all ages and groups in our congregation and bringing families from throughout not only our community but from all across the country!

Oasis Meals Resume

Oasis Meals resume Wednesday, September 14 and will once again be catered by Country Pleasures. Meals are served 5:15 pm – 6:15 pm. Prices remain the same as last year – $5/person or $20/family. Punch cards will be available for purchase and families will be able to pay with credit/debit card.

Brat & Pie Social August 18

Join us on Thursday, August 18 for the Annual Brat and Pie Social at St. John’s. The entire community is invited. Don and Peggy Holtan will be playing their “Old Time” musical selections from 5 to 7 pm in the Fellowship Hall. The Adult Fellowship group will be cooking up and serving brats and hot dogs along with chips and beverages for a small charge. WELCA ladies will be serving pie and ice cream for a free will offering. Everyone is invited to join us for a fun social get-together with good food and great music! Be sure to invite a friend!

CKP Sunday is March 13, Preschool Registration Starts

CKP Sunday is March 13. It is a big day for Creation Kids Preschool! The children will have many of their projects on display and will sing at the 10:15 am service.

The children are inviting their families and friends to come to this service. Some of the students are members of other congregations so help us welcome them. We will be serving coffee between services and hope you will be able to join us.

Enrollment for the 2016-2017 school year will begin that day. Board and staff members will be available to answer any questions you might have.

CKP will also serve chicken and wild rice soup for the Lent soup supper Wednesday, March 16.
