As we step into the new year, we also step into a remarkable milestone for St. John’s Lutheran Church: our 150th Anniversary. The planning is in motion, the ideas are taking shape, and now the excitement truly begins.

Do you feel it—the anticipation, the gratitude, the joy of celebrating 150 years of faith and community? This is our year to honor the past, celebrate the present, and look with hope toward the future.

Prayer of Good Courage dove project

We’ve been praying The Prayer of Good Courage at the close of each Legacy Sunday service this year. And looking forward to the 150th Anniversary Celebration Service on September 20th, we’re dreaming of a church wide art project inspired by that prayer.

Our goal is to fold 1,000 origami doves this summer!

So we need your help! Supplies can be found at the Welcome Desk in the Narthex.

You’ll need:

-11″x11″ square piece of white paper

-instructions (see below)

-a little bit of patience 🙂

While you fold, recite The Prayer of Good Courage, and be joyful in our hope for the future God is creating among us here at St. John’s!

O God, you have called your servants to ventures of which we cannot see the ending, by paths as yet untrodden, through perils unknown.

Give us faith to go out with good courage, not knowing where we go, but only that your hand is leading us and your love supporting us,

through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
