The confirmation program at St. John’s is a program that continues the faith journey for our 7th and 8th grade students as they learn about what it means to be a disciple of Christ.

Reflect on some Big Questions this Lent

Or skip to the rest of the confirmation information

Four four weeks, beginning this week, our confirmation students are spending time with a series called The Big Questions, all about helping our students find answers to their big questions about things like identity, belonging, and purpose. The first week has been about the best place they can go for any answer, and that’s in knowing Jesus.

Everyone is invited to join in this journey starting now and for the next three weeks. Read more about the full series here.

There are several resources available to families for this study. Feel free to jump in any time! You can use the YouVersion Bible app to sign up for the 28-day devotional that pairs with this study. Just look for The Big Questions for Middle Schoolers. On your computer, you can find it here or get the PDFs below or in Lindsay’s emails to confirmation families.

The other resource that is available for this series, but also beyond it, is Parent Cue. You can utilize this app, and this is the resource specifically for this study. This can be helpful either for helping guide your family through the series or just for your own reflection.

There are options for class on Sunday mornings at 9:30 am or on Wednesday evenings at 7:30pm. Class is 45-50 minutes long. Our time together will be in person with lots of active learning and fun! Our emphasis for class is on building community.

Not only do students spend two years learning about the Bible and Luther’s Small Catechism, but it is also a time in which they will develop friendships with classmates and small group leaders, take part in service projects, and have meaningful conversations with a mentor of their choosing.

Our program continues to change and adapt to fit the needs of the families in our programming. The goal is to be flexible while building community as we learn and grow in our faith together. While we understand that life is busy and multiple commitments compete for our attention, at St. John’s we believe that rooting ourselves in regular worship of God as well as spiritual practices such as prayer, service projects, and scripture reading connect us deeply to God and to one another.
